Exhibition of the Isonzo Front, Slovenia |
The Kobarid Museum offers visitors the most extensive exhibition and guided tours of the Isonzo Front in Slovenia.
The Kobarid Museum shows the events of the First World War, specifically Battles of the Isonzo (known as the Isonzo Front by historians, Slovene: soška fronta), including the 12th Battle of Soča, known as the "Battle of Kobarid".
It represents one of the largest battles in the mountainous region in history, the largest military conflict on Slovenian soil, the most successful breakthrough operation in the First World War and one of the first examples of a battle with elements of lightning war. The history of Kobarid is also briefly presented.
In the Kobarid Museum you can relive in a special way the time 100 years ago, when the war was raging in this area. We are known for presenting the places, events and people who marked the Isonzo Front in a tangible way through the stories of the protagonists of the Front.
As part of the guided tour of the Isonzo Front, you will be able to see:
Visitors can see the museum and the remains of the former war landscape, where more than ten nations of different languages and several religions fought during the First World War.
